UGI Utilities drops gas rate 13.5% starting Dec. 1

Reading-based UGI Utilities, Inc. announced today that its gas rates will decrease due to lower wholesale natural gas costs. The average residential heating bill is expected to drop by about 13.5 percent, from $108.39 to $93.75 a month.

Natural gas costs for UGI customers will be about 27 percent less than costs three years ago, and UGI officials are saying it's because of increased supplies of natural gas from Marcellus Shale.
