1991 - On November 3, 1991, CSN appeared at the memorial concert in Golden Gate Park for Bill Graham, who had died just days earlier in a helicopter crash. Four days later, the band launched a 4 night stand at San Francisco’s legendary Warfield Theater. The Warfield is a 2300 seat venue which was opened on may 13, 1922 as a vaudeville theater. Some 57 years after it opened, the theater found new life as a home for rock concerts Bob Dylan played 14 shows at the Warfield In November 1979 as part of his of his first Gospel Tour, then played another 12 shows a year later during his Musical Retrospective Tour. The Grateful Dead played 21 shows at the Warfield, including 15 in 1980 that featured both acoustic and electric sets as part of their 15th anniversary celebration. Jerry Garcia also made the Warfield a second home, performing a record 88 times at the venue with his various side bands. Artists loved the theaters acoustics and intimate setting. Little wonder that all 4 CSN shows were acoustic performances. This soundboard captures the final night of the run on November 10, 1991, 22 years ago today. Download this one to hear the harmonies that made CSN famous.
