Arable crops in June

Our holding has arable fields on all four sides. Here is what is growing in mid-June this year.

Sugar beet.. This will be harvested late autumn and
early winter and sent to the sugar factory at
Bury St Edmunds. It is an important local crop and grown
extensively.

Maris Piper potatoes. Planted late this year but has caught
up quickly. Sprayed regularly against blight.

Wheat. This crop is destined for animal feed.

Typical big sky in this flat landscape. The crop is seed for bird
food. The reeds in the foreground are growing on the banks of
a field drain.
